Program Costs

IE3 aspires to make international internships available and affordable to qualified students. Due to the individual nature of the internship experience, the total costs for an internship vary from site to site depending on the country, length, and conditions of the internship. It is up to you to calculate the total cost of your program (taking into account the program fee, travel, housing, and additional expenses) and be sure that you will be able to afford it. All the information you need to calculate the total costs is provided in this website. Here is an overview of where to find it. To help you with your financial planning, we recommend you print a blank financial planning sheet and pencil in the numbers as you plan.

Program Fee: The program fee includes academic credit on your home campus. You do not have to pay tuition in addition to the program fee. It also includes the internship placement, international health insurance, predeparture orientation, and ongoing support while you are abroad. You can find the program fee on the application information page for your home campus.

Cost of Living: Estimated monthly costs can be found at the bottom of each individual position description.

International Travel Expenses:
Estimated travel expenses to get to the internship site can be found at the bottom of each individual position description. Check student travel agencies for the most recent prices for the time of year you plan to do your internship. Do not buy a ticket before your internship has been confirmed. Personal travel costs before or after your internship are not included in the budget.

Campus costs: In lieu of tuition, most campuses charge a fee to maintain your registration on campus while you are abroad. This fee is listed on the application information page for your home campus, but check directly with the office of international programs for the most current information.

Additional Costs: additional costs may include vaccinations and visa fees. .

Financial Aid Note: Many forms of financial aid can be applied to an international internship and IE3 provides a formal budget to your financial aid office once you have been accepted. There are also scholarships available through a variety of organizations. For more information, see the Financial Planning section of the website.

IE3 Global Internships Refund Policy
· Once IE3 Global Internships has sent an applicant's file to the host organization for consideration, the $250 deposit is no longer refundable unless the applicant is not placed in an internship. The deposit will be applied toward the balance of the program fee.

· Once IE3 receives a signed copy of the Participation Agreement from you, you are considered an active participant in the program and are responsible for paying the program fee. Should you choose to withdraw for any reason, you must advise IE3 in writing. Your deposit will not be refunded and you will be billed for the appropriate balance as determined by the criteria below.

· If the applicant withdraws from the internship after signing the participation agreement in the notification packet but prior to the official internship start date as shown on the letter of appointment, the applicant will be billed for 50% of the first term's program fee. If IE3 receives written notice of withdrawal from the internship program on or after the official internship start date as shown on the applicant's letter of appointment, the applicant will be billed for 100% of the program fee. If an applicant's appointment covers multiple terms and the applicant decides not to complete one or more of the subsequent terms, the applicant must notify IE3 in writing at least one month prior to the start of that term. The applicant will then receive a refund of 50% of the charges due for subsequent term(s).
