Health and Safety Information

The following is provided as a list of resources regarding health and safety while living, studying or interning abroad. IE3 Global Internships monitors the situation in countries where interns are located and provides information in the pre-departure orientation, but it is the responsibility of each intern to prepare adequately for the conditions of the internship.

General Health and Safety Guidelines
Be aware of the political situation in the host country, including sensitive political issues.
Carry money, traveler's checks, passport, plane tickets, and other vital documents in a money belt or passport pouch while traveling.
Register with the closest US Embassy or Consulate. You can now register online at http://travelregistration.state.gov.
Photocopy all documents such as your passport (front page, amendments and visas), traveler's check record sheets and airline tickets.
Keep a low profile and try not dress conspicuously.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the insurance policy! Don't wait until you are faced with an emergency to understand the details.
If it does not feel safe, do not do it. Your best companion is your intuition. Listen to it!
