Academic planning is important for both your graduation requirements and your internship success.
Academic Credit
Credit will be granted by a professor on your home campus, but registration will happen through the office of international programs. Discuss your plans thoroughly with the campus coordinator at your school to make sure you understand the academic credit requirements and registration process. She or he may also be able to suggest faculty members who have worked with interns in the past.
An academic advisor in your department will be able to tell you whether your internship credit will fulfill graduation requirements.
Additional academic credit topics to address include:
Minimum credits necessary for any financial aid you plan to use
Academic requirements for the credits you will earn
Registering for the following term while abroad
Academic Preparation
Read the position description carefully and talk to the regional director about any internship specific academic preparation you should undertake before leaving. This may include fine tuning technical skills or conducting background research.
