About the Organization

RMKM’s vision includes developing an equitable society in which marginalized communities are empowered and enabled to initiate and manage development processes in a holistic and sustainable manner. RMKM works to empower deprived sections of society through capacity building measures, including awareness and skill building, timely interventions enhanced by engaging in community-based applied research and intervention. The primary objective of RMKM is to improve the overall standard of life in rural communities and among the urban poor through community mobilization aimed at improving access to education, health care services, and a clean environment. In particular, RMKM engages in community work aimed at the following key issues/activities:

• Enabling the disabled through inclusive education, vocational trainings, preventive, and rehabilitative services.
• Reducing the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) through early interventions promoting Safe Motherhood, health counseling, and health camps, including HIV-AIDS awareness building;
• Empowering the socially deprived, especially women, through education, awareness building, natural resource management, capacity building and micro-credit programs aimed at livelihoods enhancement;
• Providing care and support to the elderly.

RMKM’s area of operation includes the Aravalli Hills in Ajmer, which is one of the famous tourist spots in Rajasthan. The area is famous for the holy mosque of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and Pushkar Lake (approximately 13 miles from RMKM’s office. RMKM’s operational area comprises of eighty villages distributed in four administrative blocks of the district of Ajmer. Learn more about RMKM at http://rmkm.org/index.html.

Job Description

RMKM would prefer inters in the following areas/tasks:
• Developing an MIS System for the organizations ongoing programs
• Studying the community impact of the RMKM’s programs
• Needs assessment
• Developing and promoting health education programs in target communities
• Documenting organization’s key activities
• Website development and other administrative work.

Interns at RMKM do not require any specific academic training or special skills for internship. However, the organization would like the intern come with a desire to help in developing and strengthening the organization.

Language Ability

English. Basic Hindi is necessary on site, but can be learned prior to departure.

IE3 Program Fee

The IE3 program fee is $3450 for the first term for both in-state and out-of-state students and $1000 for each additional term, regardless of credit earned.
