About the Organization

YQ Vending has created the first commercially, socially and environmentally viable method of vending a wide range of drinks in nightclubs across the UK. We are a SME (Small or Medium-Sized Enterprise) taking a highly innovative product and POS to the alcoholic on-trade market. We offer genuine USP’s over our competition that add real value to the end user. The safety of staff, venues and customers is increased whilst turnover rises and overheads fall. Formed in June 2007 the business has been conducting R & D, market research and perfecting our offering. We are due to launch in February 2009. We have won two business awards, one for innovation and the other a start-up prize. Have a fantastic management/support team including “celebrity” entrepreneurs and people with vast amounts of industry experience. These are not based in the same offices and do not work full time on the business. Any intern/s will work with the MD in office location. Our mission is to “revolutionise the way that drinks are brought, consumed and their packaging disposed of in nightclubs around the world”. We are currently based in offices in Leicester in the East Midlands; we plan to base the business here for the foreseeable future. Our business creates value by placing vending machines in nightclubs from which licensees sell our range of branded pouched drinks (alcoholic and soft). The drinks are just as appealing and saleable over the bar as well. YQ Vending is affiliated with the Innovation Centre, a regional development organisation: http://www.dmu.ac.uk/partnerships/consultancy/innovation_centre/

Job Description

Day to day tasks will certainly not be day to day! There will be a genuine variety of roles that need to be filled from one day to another and often on the same day. Examples of tasks that may be undertaken are; preparation of sales pitches to potential new customers, visiting and pitching to potential customers, preparation of product specification, managing market research, individual project management, work on company website, business planning and financial forecast work, future planning and bench marking. There is not set list of tasks and the above list isn’t exhaustive. The joy of working with a cutting edge business is that every day brings new challenges and opportunities.

Skills that will be learnt will be exceptionally varied as the intern will not be making coffee and photocopying! They will actively be involved in the day to day tasks involved with taking a new product to market and running a growing business. A good insight will be gained into the UK on-trade (the sale of alcoholic drinks in clubs and bars). The opportunity will be able to offer the intern with the chance to see the working side of a UK based SME.
