About the Organization
Five private, bilingual schools in Mexico offering U.S. students internships as a teacher or teacher's aide in English language classrooms. Opportunities to work in a pre-school, elementary school, middle school or high school to teach English, Math, Science, Art, History, P.E., or Music or other subjects. The programs are certified , co-educational, bilingual (English/Spanish), some with some special education components. These internships are very affordable as they offer compensation in the form of free room and board with a homestay family who is affiliated with the school.
Job Description
Assist teaching English. Assist with other subjects and/or lead other activities depending on your preparation and interests and the current needs of the school. Interns typically involved with classroom, small group and one-on-one activities, special projects, substituting, school trips and events.
Depending on abilities, interns may be assigned a classroom with all associated lesson planning, curriculum, grading, management and discipline responsibilities.
Opportunities to teach Physical Education (P.E.) at Ker Liber School.
Opportunities in Special Education in schools with programs for Downs Syndrome, autism, or other disabilities available at Instituto S.P.A.C..
Interns treated as professional teaching staff and expected to maintain full work schedule, do necessary preparation, share in recess supervision, substitute teaching, extracurricular and other tasks.

Qualifications
Academic Background
Prefer students with majors in Education, English, ESL, Special Ed, Spanish, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Family Studies, but open to other majors--such as French, Science, Art, Math, Environmental Studies, Music, Exercise Sport Science, Physical Education, Theater and others.
Skills/Experience
Experience with groups of students, preferably in a classroom setting. Teaching experience not required, but helpful and preferred. Special Education coursework/experience required for Downs Syndrome and other Special Ed programs.
Language Ability
Completion of 2 years of university level Spanish (to facilitate daily living).
Other Requirements
ESL/EFL experience helpful. Must love working with children. In order to be placed in a homestay family, a photo of yourself is required (electronic format preferred). Please submit this along with your application.

IE3 Program Fee
The program fee for the first term of any internship is $2,750 - $2,950. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

Compensation
Schools arrange free room and board with local host families.
Additional Expense Information
$600 is suggested to cover 12 weeks for incidentals, personal expenses, local transportation, occasional meals out, and a modest amount of local recreation and some travel. Students who plan to go out frequently in the evenings or travel extensively on weekends, should budget additional funds for these activities.
The Teaching Internships in Mexico receive priority consideration for the IE3 Scholarship.
