CDS International’s EMGIP program or the Bosch summer internship) with the possibility to get credit and support through IE3. About the Organization
Through a partnership with USA-Interns in Germany, IE3 Global Internship participants have access to a wide variety of German internship opportunities in business, engineering, education, culture, international studies, political science, and liberal arts.
Sample internship areas include: Journalism and Publishing (Magazines, Newspapers, Publishers, Radio Stations) Business (Consulting, Retail, Marketing, Operations, HR, Trade Organizations, Chamber of Commerce) Culture and Art (Museums, Music Festivals, Opera Houses, Radio Stations, Photography) Political Science (Government Offices, Political Parties, Consulates, International Organizations) Engineering (Consulting, Analysis, Research, Universities, Private Businesses) Education (Teaching, TESOL, Educational Advising, International Education, Educational Program Administration) Placements with Adidas are also a possibility, though they are not guaranteed.
USA -Interns works with applicants coming through IE3 Global Internships to arrange internships and work permit waivers. They do not help with arranging accommodation and applicants should be prepared to navigate life in Germany on their own (including Anmeldung and searching for housing, settling into a new city, etc.).
Job Description
Internships available depend on the skills of the applicant and the needs of the organization. Internships are available year round, but applicants should apply as early as possible in order to give maximum opportunity for arranging an internship that is a good fit.

Skills/Experience
Varies according to internship. In general applicants must have maturity, office skills and solid German language communication skills.
Language Ability
German equivalent to a minimum of two years at the university is required, higher level may be required for certain internships. Proficiency in English is required for non-native English speakers.
Other Requirements
Applicants must submit a German resume (Lebenslauf) with the IE3 application. A Lebenslauf requires a photo in the upper right hand corner. Click here for tips on creating a Lebenslauf.
In addition to the IE3 program requirements, USA-Interns has the following requirements: - Applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident. A foreign national is eligible if he/she is a full-time student completing a Bachelor’s/ Graduate degree at an accredited US university and will return to the US after the internship to complete his/her degree. - Applicant must be an enrolled student both before and after the internship. A recent graduate may apply, so long as his/her graduation took place no more than 4 months prior to commencing the internship. -Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Exceptions exist in certain fields. -Applicants must have previously gained some form of work experience (student job, vacation job, clerical work, volunteer work, internship, etc.). - Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 30. Exceptions exist for graduate students.

IE3 Program Fee
For spring term 2012, the program fee for the first term of any internship is $2950 - $3150. The expected program fee beginning summer term 2012 is $3450 for the first term. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

Compensation
Varies by internship. Business internships often pay a small stipend. Students with liberal arts backgrounds should not expect to be compensated for their internships, although host companies may assist with housing.
Scholarships: Scholarships for internships in Germany may be available through the DAAD. Visit the DAAD scholarship database and check with your campus for other resources.
Additional Expense Information
USA-Interns charges 70 Euros for placement and work permit waiver processing. If a candidate drops out after being placed, they will be charged 250 Euros by USA-Interns in addition to the IE3 penalties.
