About the Organization

Entity Green supports livelihood generation in Jordan through vocational training, affordable housing, and income generating activities such as recycling.

Their philosophy can be summed up in three points:

1. Vocational training programs in isolation do not create livelihoods, an integrated approach is needed.
2. Community-based solutions will always be more effective than large-scale imposed ones, as evidenced by our waste management and recycling programs.
3. We can lessen our negative impact on the local and global environment, and even turn that impact into a positive one with simple and intentional actions.

Entity Green was founded by a group of professionals from diverse backgrounds who sought an innovative approach to transformative development. The company sees organizational learning as the key to sustainability. Building on best practices in international development, EG is constantly assessing processes, taking internal and external feedback to refine every aspect of each program. EG’s team is invested in process as much as product – by managing operations intentionally EG is building an organization equipped with lasting infrastructure, knowledge and capital to address Jordan’s present and future challenges.

Job Description

Interns will assist with vocational training, affordable housing programs, and income-generating activities such as recycling that benefit community development. This position will work on projects in disadvantaged communities and, as such, will learn how to juggle a variety of different levels of work. Tasks will include developing high level plans, carrying out administrative work, and implementing projects in the communities that EG works in.

Qualifications

Academic Background

Undergraduate or graduate students with background in engineering, urban planning, design, architecture, accounting, finance, agriculture, website design, or community development or students with skills that would benefit the the mission of Entity Green.

Skills/Experience

Required: Good social skills, ability to work independently.

Additional useful experience: Waste Management Background, Urban Planning/Design/Architecture, Accounting/Finance, Arabic, Product Design, Engineering (especially mechanical), Management, Tennis, Gardening/ Agriculture, Website Design/Programming.

Language Ability

Arabic would be extremely useful, but much of the administrative work is done in English.

IE₃ Program Fee

For spring term 2012, the program fee for the first term of any internship is $2950 - $3150. The expected program fee beginning summer term 2012 is $3450 for the first term. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE₃ page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.
