Interns lend a hand with a whole range of tasks involved with the production of a monthly magazine - Cara Magazine, the in flight magazine for Aer Lingus, the Irish National Airline, and online content for the Irish Tourist Board and their partner sites worldwide.

About the Organization

Maxmedia publishes Cara Magazine on behalf of Aer Lingus, the Irish National airline eight times a year. Maxmedia also supplies content services to Tourism Ireland and its suite of sites on , including content migration, localisation and content management. The office is located in the "Enterprise Cube" in Dun Laoghaire, to the south of Dublin. Interns can expect a fast-paced, multi-faceted work experience as part of the small but dynamic team at Maxmedia.

Job Description

Interns are involved with many aspects of magazine and online media production:

Layout, editorial tasks and production of a print magazine - content production, fact checking, finding images, caption writing, proofreading, meeting deadlines.

Editorial tasks, content production, content migration, website management skills for online media.

Students can expect to attend events in the local area, and do research on topics for the magazine.

Academic Background

Any major is eligible, provided the student has some previous journalistic experience, and strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Skills/Experience

A PC is available for full access for research and copywriting. Proficiency in MS Word and Excel are required. Experience with Powerpoint and other web based technologies are helpful, but not required.

Language Ability

Excellent written and spoken English.

Other Requirements

I would expect a high level of attention to detail in all tasks, particularly in content provision for either the website or the magazine. Subbing of content, writing of content and picture research all to brief.

IE3 Program Fee

The program fee* for the first term of any internship is $2950 - $3150. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

*The program fee noted above reflects the anticipated fee increase that will go into effect for the Fall 2010 term and will apply to all terms thereafter.

Compensation
