Individual placements throughout Germany are possible. Students are encouraged to consider combining one of the grant funded programs (eg. CDS International’s EMGIP program or the Bosch summer internship) with the possibility to get credit and support through IE3. About the Organization
Through partnerships in Germany, IE3 Global Internship participants have access to a wide variety of German internship opportunities in business, culture, international studies, political science, and liberal arts.
Sample internship areas include: Journalism and Publishing (Magazines, Newspapers, Publishers, Radio Stations) Business (Consulting, Retail, Marketing, Operations, HR, Trade Organizations, Chamber of Commerce) Culture and Art (Museums, Music Festivals, Opera Houses, Radio Stations, Photography) Political Science (Government Offices, Political Parties, Consulates, International Organizations)

Job Description
Internships available through the individualized Placement option in Germany depend on the skills of the applicant and the needs of the organization. Internships are available year round, but applicants should apply as early as possible in order to give maximum opportunity for arranging an internship that is a good fit.

Varies according to internship. In general applicants must have maturity, office skills and solid German language communication skills.
Language Ability
German equivalent to a minimum of two years at the university is recommended, higher level may be required for certain internships.

IE3 Program Fee
The program fee for the first term of any internship is $2,750 - $2,950. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

Compensation
Varies by internship. Business internships often pay a small stipend. Students with liberal arts backgrounds should not expect to be compensated for their internships, although host companies may assist with housing.
Scholarships: Scholarships for internships in Germany may be available through the DAAD. Visit http://www.daad.de and check with your campus.
Additional Expense Information
- There are additional fees associated with the development of an internship site and the processing of the work permit waiver application for these internships.
For students with advanced German and previous experience in Germany, a placement may cost $100 through our partnership with the Steuben Schurz Gesellschaft. This includes the cost of the work permit waiver.
Students placed in and around Cologne will receive additional support and the cost of the placement, including work permit waiver is $1000. This is a more appropriate choice for students with limited prior experience in Germany.
The total cost will vary depending on the placement and the agency used for the work permit exemption processing. Discuss the total cost estimate of the program with the regional director if you have any questions.
