Heritage Malta is the national agency of the Government of Malta entrusted with the management of national museums and heritage sites and their collections in Malta and Gozo, including seven UNESCO world heritage sites. Malta has a rich history, stretching from pre-historic times to the present. The islands that make up Malta are a crossroads in the Mediterranean and are marked by Christian, European, and Islamic cultures. It is also a thriving entrant into the European Union and a hotbed of film activity.

Heritage Malta works to preserve and explore Malta's monuments from the past and educate visitors.. Heritage Malta works with all facets of this mission: conservation, education, and promotion.

Heritage Sites on Malta include: Ggantija Temples - a megalithic complex dating from 3600-3200 B.C. Abbatija tad Dejr - paleochristian catacombs Hagar Qim Temple - c. 3600 - 3200 BC St. Paul's Catacombs - underground Roman cemeteries

Museums include: Museum of Fine Arts Archeological Museuem of Gozo Malta Maritime Museuem

Job Description

Interns can apply for a wide variety of internship opportunities with Heritage Malta, including museum work, preservation, communciations, tourism promotion, archeology.

IE3 Program Fee

For spring term 2012, the program fee for the first term of any internship is $2950 - $3150. The expected program fee beginning summer term 2012 is $3450 for the first term. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

Additional Expense Information

Cost estimates are provided in Euros because of stabilty. Currency in Malta is the Maltese Lira. Students are responsible for locating their own housing. The University Residence is an initial recommendation until students have arrived on site and can locate something upon arrival.
