Join a small staff in their downtown Dublin office to participate in all aspects of the editorial process - from researching and writing stories to subediting (with a smattering of basic administrative tasks -it is an internship after all!).
In exchange for contributing your writing skills, imagination, outgoing personality and computer literacy, you will gain full immersion in all aspects of magazine production: pitching stories, researching, deadline pressures, editing, etc. This internship is a great opportunity to hone your journalistic skills, and to be involved in a wide range of the tasks involved in magazine production.
About the Organization
The Dubliner is a monthly current affairs magazine with a national distribution. Contents include opinion, political and social commentary, features on Irish life as well as reviews of restaurants, bars, books, music, theatre, art and cinema. The magazine has been going since 2001 and has a small staff working from a city-centre office. We also publish the bestselling Dubliner 100 Best Restaurants Guide every year.

Job Description
Interns have a big role in the life of The Dubliner. They take part in most aspects of the editorial process, from researching and writing stories to conducting interviews and vox pops, subediting and coming up with ideas at our editorial meetings. Basically, the more proactive the intern, the more he or she will get to do. Interns will also be expected to take on some light administrative duties – posting letters, copying etc.

Academic Background
Undergraduate and graduate students from all relevant fields with a specific interest in journalism.
Skills/Experience
Good writing skills, lots of imagination, outgoing personality, computer literate (layout/design not required)
Full immersion in all aspects of magazine production. The intern will learn how to pitch stories, research and bring their ideas through to the page under deadline and other pressures. Also practice in subediting, conducting interviews etc.
Language Ability
Fluent written and spoken English

IE3 Program Fee
The program fee for the first term of any internship is $2,750 - $2,950. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

The Dubliner office is located right in the centre of town, near many of the shopping streets, restaurants, bars etc. Dublin is a great city - lots of things to see, nice people and plenty of fun to be had.
