Work with a variety of agencies in the state of Tasmania in the field of tourism, wildlife and parks management. Most placements would be with state agencies such as the Department of Parks and Wildlife to assist with on-going research projects.

Work with a variety of agencies in the state of Tasmania in the field of tourism, wildlife and parks management. Placements could include working on research projects with University of Tasmania Recreation and Tourism students. Potential areas of interest are (but are not limited to):
•Wildlife tracking and management
•Park use and management
•User impact surveys
•Sustainable tourism programs
•Ranger and interpretive positions

Skills/Experience
It is extremely important that participants have a high level of physical fitness and agility and be able to accurately record data. Previous camping and backpacking experiences a plus. Interns should have knowledge of map and compass use. Students must be capable of strenuous work and long days. Duties can be demanding and physical in nature. Interns may be walking long distances carrying heavy packs. Projects involve being out in all weather conditions. Interns may be camping at times or staying in small huts, thus they must be able to get along with several people in tight living conditions.

Students will work with the Oceania Regional Director and host site in Tasmania to obtain an Occupational Trainee visa for Australia.

IE3 Program Fee
For spring term 2012, the program fee for the first term of any internship is $2950 - $3150. The expected program fee beginning summer term 2012 is $3450 for the first term. You do not pay tuition in addition to the program fee. Visit your University's IE3 page for details, costs for additional terms, and campus administrative fees.

Student are responsible for locating appropriate housing. They should be prepared to spend a few days in a hostel while locating housing on site.
