Job Description
Intern will hold one of several English Language Assistant positions. Teach 9 to 12 hours of English as a Second Language per week and work at the Language Center for up to 8 hours per week on complementary instructional activities such as showing original version films, discussing newspaper articles with students.
Interns should be aware that, while there is an intern supervisor, they will be expected to work on their own without close classroom monitoring or direction. That means that the intern needs to be prepared to take the initiative to talk with language program faculty about lessons being given, talk to students about their interests and needs, and find materials and creative ways to work this into their own instruction. This is can be fairly confusing and somewhat awkward at the start of the year, but becomes much less so as the intern finds resources and develops a connection with faculty and students.
