Intern for the American Chamber of Commerce in the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Assist in organizing and supporting members working in trade, tourism, industrial development, education, and labor relations; organizing seminars; publishing information on trade, exporting markets, and logistics.
About the Organization
The American Chamber/Mexico is an independent, non-profit business organization, founded in 1917. It promotes trade and private investment between Mexico and the United States; and represents the interests of U.S. companies in Mexico and of its members in general. It has 2,000 member companies from various countries and more than 15,000 top-level executives. Members represent 2 million jobs and account for more than US$100 billion in direct investment in Mexico. It has its corporate office located in Mexico City with divisions in Guadalajara and Monterrey. It is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a business confederation that consists of more than three million corportations from around the world in 84 countries.
The American Chamber/Mexico is an information clearinghouse in international trade. It promotes commercial opportunities, business contacts and company networking among its members.
Assist in organizing and supporting members working in trade environment, tourism, industrial development, education, and labor relations; organizing seminars; publishing information on trade, exporting markets, and logistics in Mexico.
Illustrative tasks are:
- Research business contacts for members and non-members-receive, consult and prepare information requested by interested firms, and follow-up;
- Help organize information and promote a variety of international trade opportunities to membership; gather information from the press and internet and prepare for internal use and external audiences;
- Support activities of the International Trade Committee, prepare background information, notify members, follow-up tasks;
- Update information related to setting up businesses in the U.S. for use by local firms; and
- Organization of trade missions between Mexican and American companies.
The intern will work under the direct supervision of the International Trade Manager, develop an agreed upon work plan and hold review sessions.

IE3 Program Fee
The IE3 program fee is $3450 for the first term for both in-state and out-of-state students and $1000 for each additional term. This fee includes up to 12 credits per term, and is charged in lieu of tuition. Visit your University's IE3 page for details regarding campus administrative fees.

Students will find their own housing. Previous students have been able to rent an apartment or room in a house very close to the Amcham. Students should budget additional funds for weekend travel.
