Internship Description

About the Organization:
A non-profit organization that conducts integrated programs in marketing, communications, promotion and research for US produced dairy products in Mexico. They are currently expanding their efforts into Central America.

Local Activities:

Facility is the representative's office in a residential neighborhood in Mexico City. Focus is trade servicing, product promotion, and marketing research. Note: The office is planning to move to San Miguel de Allende in Summer 2006.

Job Description:

 Coordinate USDEC in national exposition and fairs. Coordinate trade teams. Participate in educational campaigns. Negotiate with restaurants and hotels for inclusion of US dairy products. Select advertising information. Cooperate in budget. Much done in English.

Intern Qualifications

Academic Background:
International marketing/business; need knowledge of dairy products; Resource Economics, Agricultural Business Management, Animal Sciences, or related major. Preference given to students with career goals in the Dairy industry.

Skills/Experience:

Computer (mainly Microsoft office applications), coursework in international marketing and experience related to dairy and/or agriculture sectors. Strong writing skills in English..

Language Requirement:

Proficiency in Spanish equivalent to mid-fourth year university work.

Other Requirements:

Previous study abroad recommended.

Internship Costs

Program Fees:
The program fee includes tuition, internship site development and placement, pre-departure orientation, international health insurance, internship monitoring and follow-up.

Internship provider offers homestay with his family or a relative (approx. value $275/month)..

International Travel:

Approximately $500 covered by employer

Cost of Living:

Intern will need an additional $400-$500 per month for personal expenses plus travel money.

Budget Note:

Applicants should use these estimates for preliminary budgeting purposes.
IE3 will issue an official budget after acceptance by the host organization.
