Help preserve the forest and natural resources in Ecuador!

I received this email from our contacts in Ecuador. -Monya Lemery, IE3 Latin America Director
Monya, I really will appreciate if you help us to promote the Guandera Station. We are facing a very big problem because there are not enough interns and volunteers going there. In the U.S., they receive the information that this area is dangerous because it is near the border with Colombia. Our Guandera Biological Station is very far away from the border and we have never had any problem there. All of the conservation projects have stopped because of this incorrect information. People are very lovely there and the type of the forest that we want to protect is unique in the world. The Guandera tree grows up 1cm a year. In their natural habitat, ie 3400m to 3500m - the trees grow more than 1cm. At the station there are trees between 25 and 30m high. It is like an enchanted forest. To maintain these 3000 hectares it is very expensive for us. We don’t want to sell the reserve because we have to protect it, but we also need the help of volunteers and interns from the IE3 Global Internships program.
