Learning to be American, at home and abroad

During the summer months of 2009 between my junior and senior years of college I participated in an IE3 internship in Malaysia. I worked with Women’s Aid Organization, an agency that provides services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Needless to say, this was a life changing experience that I have carried with me everyday since. My time in SE Asia (I spent a semester in Singapore prior to my internship) exposed me to many new aspects about the world and myself, including how deeply rooted I am in my nationality.
