During the summer months of 2009 between my junior and senior years of college I participated in an IE3 internship in Malaysia. I worked with Women’s Aid Organization, an agency that provides services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Needless to say, this was a life changing experience that I have carried with me everyday since. My time in SE Asia (I spent a semester in Singapore prior to my internship) exposed me to many new aspects about the world and myself, including how deeply rooted I am in my nationality. Roxana Nourouzi (UW) is embarking on a ten week internship in rural India working with women's self help groups through the Grassroots Community Development internship. She checks in toward the end of her first week to share her initial impressions of India.

My first exposure to Mumbai was exactly what you would imagine...crazy, random, chaotic and full of life!!!! Marci Lee is one of the first group of IE3 scholarship recipients. She is doing a medical rotation in Dehra Dun and Mumbai india with CFHI.
