Announcing Summer 2011 IE3 Scholarship Recipients!

We had outstanding Summer 2011 term applicants for the IE3 Scholarship; however, the following four students stood out amongst their peers. The IE3 Scholarship is awarded to interns with demonstrated financial need and academic excellence. In fulfillment of this award, scholarship recipients must document their experience with both a written and visual submissions. We look forward to sharing with you updates of their successes. Learning to be American, at home and abroad

During the summer months of 2009 between my junior and senior years of college I participated in an IE3 internship in Malaysia. I worked with Women’s Aid Organization, an agency that provides services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence. Needless to say, this was a life changing experience that I have carried with me everyday since. My time in SE Asia (I spent a semester in Singapore prior to my internship) exposed me to many new aspects about the world and myself, including how deeply rooted I am in my nationality. After spending all Thursday and Friday exploring Dun Laoghaire, I discovered several things that is different about Ireland than The States (this is how everyone refers to the US).
