Stay Connected/Give Back

It can be a challenge to keep your internship experience alive once you are settled back into your "old" life, but it doesn't have to be! Share your experience with others, get involved in the community, tell your story, help others understand what you learned on your internship!

Here are some ways to stay connected to the global community:

  • Volunteer with the ESL program on your home campus or with international student orientation.
  • Speak to students about international opportunities at your home campus. Many offices of international programs have student ambassador programs.
  • Volunteer with local programs using your foreign language. Opportunities range from counseling programs to international chambers of commerce.
  • Write articles about your experience as an intern for the campus paper, your hometown newspaper, IE3's Field Notes blog, or Glimpse online magazine.
  • Contact your local school district to find out if you can share your experiences with their students.
  • Present your experiences at local clubs such as Rotary or Lions.
  • Attend a study abroad fair or class visits to talk about your internship.
  • Join the IE3 Global Internships alumni group on LinkedIn to network with other internationally minded graduates and young professionals.

You can play an active role in the IE3 program by:

  • Recommending reliable organizations abroad that would like to have an intern. Send the contact information to the Regional Director with a summary of the opportunities.
  • Hiring an intern. If you work for an organization that would either like an intern, or would like to hire an intern alumnus, let us know. We may be able to match you with a recent graduate.
  • Contributing an article to Field Notes about life since your internship.
  • Providing us with information and resources from recent travels that we can share with outbound interns
  • Donating frequent flyer mileage to an intern for a plane ticket.
