Applying for an Internship

All IE3 internships are competitive and applicants should approach their application the same way they would a job interview. Resumes should be professional and error-free. Applications will be screened based on the quality of the presentation and the strength of the references and interview. Host organizations make the final decision regarding an applicant.

Students must select up to 3 internships for which they will be considered.Students should carefully select internships that match their professional and linguistic goals. When filling out the application, students should be sure to include the internship number AND the name of the host organization on the application. In essays and resumes, only the name of the host organization is required.

Applicants must submit:
A completed application form
Essays (questions are on the application form)
Confidential reference forms
Transcripts
A resume reflecting their professional and international experience

Specific application information is provided for students under Application Information. Students should also be familiar with the Screening Criteria that will be used to judge their applications.

After IE3 has received all application materials, an interview must be conducted by a representative of the home campus. Information, an interview report template and sample questions are provided under Interviewing.

Once the interview report has been received, the applicant's file will be forwarded to the host organization for approval. Upon approval, the applicant and home campus international advisor will receive informal notification from the Regional Director.

An official letter of appointment including a projected budget sheet for the internship will be sent to the student. The student must sign and return the letter of appointment with a recent photo. A copy of the budget will be sent to the campus if necessary for financial aid.

The student makes final arrangements with the host organization regarding starting dates and arrival. Some positions will help with housing, others require the intern to arrange their own housing.

IE3 Global Internships will provide pre-departure information and advising regarding visas, housing, program requirements and site orientation.
